The town of Nin
Nin is the oldest Croatian royal town, located partly on a small islet (500 m²) connected to the mainland by two bridges, and partly on the mainland itself. It is only 15 km from the city of Zadar, which is an important center of tourism on a global scale. Nin has a population of around 1,500 inhabitants. The town lies in a unique shallow lagoon, surrounded by traditional salt fields and beautiful long sandy beaches. Swimming in the sea here is further enriched by the country's largest deposits of therapeutic mud.
Beaches
The advantage of our apartment house's location is that a variety of beaches are relatively close by. If you feel like a change, you can simply get in the car and within a few minutes you will be at a completely different beach. A stay with us will therefore certainly never become boring.
The nearest and most popular beach, "Kraljičina Plaža" (Queen's Beach), also known as the lagoon, is located just 950 m from Villa Maria*. Its exceptionally gentle sandy entrance into the sea creates ideal conditions for small children to play and offers endless fun for little sand architects. The Nin Lagoon frequently appears in rankings of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia, whether for its fine sand, crystal-clear water, shallow areas and emerging sandbanks, or for its unique scenery combining sea views with the Velebit mountain range in the background. The beach is equipped with facilities such as showers and toilets, beach bars offering a wide selection of drinks, and a fast-food stand serving hamburgers, hot dogs, and more. For an additional fee, you can rent a straw parasol with two sun loungers, a pedal boat, try parasailing (kiteboarding), or enjoy a large inflatable water playground in the sea. Another major attraction of the Queen's Lagoon is the famous therapeutic mud called "peloid", known since Roman times. Visitors seek it out both for treating skin conditions and, for the healthy ones, as a fun attraction. Anyone who hasn't been covered in mud from head to toe at least once can hardly say they've truly been to Nin.
For swimmers and guests who prefer a steeper entry into the sea or jumping from a pier, there is the sandy beach known as "by the chimney", located about 2 km away. You will also find a beach bar there offering a wide selection of drinks. In the surrounding area, there are also classic "hidden" coves which may not offer any services, but provide absolute peace and tranquility.
For guests who are interested in a beach with plenty of attractions and hospitality services, we recommend visiting the resort of Zaton, located about 2 km away. It also has a sandy beach, but it is significantly more commercial. Guests who would like to experience a pebbly beach with crystal-clear water instead of sand are advised to visit the island of Vir or the town of Petrčane, both located approximately 6 km from Nin.
Thanks to the diversity of this coastline, every guest is sure to find their own favorite spot where they can spread out a towel or rent a sun umbrella with sun loungers and enjoy uninterrupted relaxation.
